Hello friends, welcome to BORP EP 51 and get ready for some fun- sorry about the lame rhyme there. It's great to be back in the studio and sharing our hot, occasionally silly takes on music and film. Mickey is fully immersed in that micro dosing life but if you thought that would calm him down a little think again. Tristan had just returned from the mountains before recording so he's still shaking that Shining-esque cabin fever (note- we recorded this episode before the current pandemic travel restrictions). For our album pick (12:30) we listened to the masterful and ambitious Dots & Loops by Stereolab. Tristan and Mick get into some heated discussions about what actually constitutes pop music in doing so- it's spicy! For our film pick (1:28:14) we watched the 2015 art house (maybe) horror (definitely) film Green Room, and dive into the ideological implications of the characters in it. For New & Noteworthy (2:00:28) we checked out music from Nick Hakim & Roy Nathanson, Tkay Maidza, Sun June, and Spirit Of The Beehive. For Three Questions (2:20:38) Mickey takes Tristan on a trip down memory lane, but also makes him talk about hockey. Rude! Listen to the episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or right here. Do your thing with the likes, subscribes, and comments as the algorithm demands it. You can also find all of the tracks we discuss on our EP 51 playlist on Apple Music and Spotify. Thanks so much for listening!
