BORP 36: EMA's Past Life Martyred Saints/ The Holy Mountain/ Toøl Brewing & Soma Cider

Ok friends welcome back to BORP! In this episode we are relived as all heck to have Mickey back safe and sound from his adventures down in California at Dessert Daze. Think Lord Of The Rings meets Hunter S Thompson by way of Mick's quirky mannerisms. In between finding his in inner katra (inner dharma?) he saw some pretty great bands and he's gonna talk about them something fierce. Else where in the show Tristan has found his new favourite brewery from across the pond, Toøl Brewing out in Denmark, and they are out for blood. We try their sour pale ale its a heck of a thing that's for true. Mick keeps the cider train rolling from Soma Craft Brewing (they have an alpaca farm!). We checked out their cherry wood aged apple cider and hell if it didn't taste like bbq sauce. Our album pick for this round was the devastatingly raw industrial drone folk biopic Past Life Martyred Saints by EMA. For movie time with Tristan and Mick things only get weirder as we watch the 1973 cult film The Holy Mountain. The bizarre tale of a group of individuals trying to overthrow a corrupt oligarchy that secretly controls the world was billed 45 years ago as the first film that was beyond criticism. It's not! New and noteworthy from Floating Points, SASAMI, Destroyer, and Healing Gems. Tristan, for some reason, regals us in a tale of his favourite bar in LA where he almost went blind and possibly beat up by a biker who may have also been the bouncer; for some reason Mickey wants to go? California has changed him! As always you can find the episode on itunes or Spotify or right here.
